When should you seek urgent care?
An erection lasting longer than four hours, severe genital pain or injury, sudden neurological symptoms, chest pain, or sudden vision or hearing loss after medicine requires urgent medical attention.
Emergency warning
Do not wait for a routine appointment if an erection lasts four hours or more. Priapism can permanently damage tissue.
